What browser - Internet Explorer? What version?
In any case, clearing the history should get rid of them. SO, are they sites you have visited or are they things you would "rather weren't there". I guess the latter as you want to get rid of them, so I would suggest you download adaware (http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10045910.html?part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button) and run that. Also a good virus scan wouldn't hurt.

I dont think you understand the question. IE 6.0 is what I am using.
go to tools, Internet Options, the home page address bar is displayed. It displays every homepage address I ever had. I am running adawre 6.0 with all current updates, spybot with all current updates, and sonic wall antivirus.
still - the home pages are kept. its no biggie to me. onetime the God Dang "incredifind" defaulted as my homepage. that was months ago - and that still is displayed in my list of "home pages"
how does one delete them?
I am running win 2k pro
p.s. - i bet if you go to yours and type in "www" you see a list pop up of all previous home pages

It's interesting, but now that you have mentioned it I see exactly what you are referring to. I had never noticed that before.
The strange thing is that none of the items on the list has ever been set as my homepage so I'm not sure where they came from. I've also compare the addresses on that list to the address in my history and they are completely different. I've also searched the Registry for some of the addresses on the list and came up with nothing.
Like you said, it's no big deal but it's intriguing. I had never noticed that before and I'm also curious as to what generated it and how it can be cleared.

I think you might be reffering to the auto-reply function by the sound of it - if so turn it off.

I think gooner is referring to the Auto complete feature but I don't believe that is the case here. Maybe, maybe not. I don't want to disable auto-complete as it's helpful in my case for password entry as I don't allow my browser to retain that info. Some of the sites listed here were never visited by me and some were.
Thanks for the replies.
Im using internet explorer 6 with micorsoft xp.
I forgot to mention that i have already tried scanning for spyware using search and destroy but with no luck.
so has anybody got an idea? There must be a way!!
cheers

I am running Win 2K and IE 6 and just cleared the History and all of the entries were cleared, except for my default home page. (note: you have to close the browser and then reopen it before the list is cleared). It appears that the list is populated from the History file.
cheers jmbrown12 your advise did the trick.:)
Simple when you know how eh?

Not so in my case. I'm on my Windows 2000 rack today also with IE6 and that was the first thing I thought of. It had no effect on the list whatsoever. The entries on this list also did not correspond to the entries on the history list.

Strange that it worked for two of us but not for you. So much for my thought that they come from the History file.

Yeah that is kind of odd. No big deal though, I was not even aware of it until it was brought up in this thread. I certainly appreciate your efforts though. The important thing is that ERP, who started the thread, found a solution to his problem.
I think I'll just go ahead and write some .reg files to lock down my homepage from my Registry just in case. It'll have to be two, one to lock and one to unlock. Too many hijackers floating around.
