Ps2 Help Needed Asap Please

hI gUYS hope hope you can help

got a PS2 with a messiah 2 chip, but all of a sudden its stopped reading dvds games wont boot even original films wont play it worked fine the night before and in mornin g no joy.
Any ideas? could it be laser? WOuld it go just like that? Or what else could it be

try a CDR game if it work.. it's your laser.. you can try cleaning it but the odds are it's the laser
