I remember when I said that we should make this section on CDRG :)

Who here has the best overclock? Lets list some.

I don't have the best (atleast after someone else posts)
Got my AMD XP2000 up to XP2500, but I run it at around XP2400 for keeping the temps down.

6502 overclocked to a P4/3GHz HT

I actully have a XP1800 O/C to XP2200 just by changing the FSB to 166, been running fine for over 2 months with DDR2700, temp around 45'c
Thinking of getting a XP220 and see if I could get that to run at 166 also, the board is a standard K7S8X

My P4 2.4B GHz is overclocked to 3.15GHz with stock cooling. I think I got away with this because my case is a server chassis with plenty of exploited cooling options.

Duff, have you tryed fiddiling (im sure I didn't spell that right) with the multipliers? You can prabally achieve a better result.

BTW, black what part in FL are you in?

I just found out if I stick a XP2200 into the same board, it wont fire up at 166, so now I have a XP1800 running as a XP200, and a XP2200 running as a ...um... XP2200 :)

But I guess because the O/C XP2200 is @ 166, the performance would be a lot better than a standard XP2200, so I will stick with it, while I were removing the CPU to change over, my screwdriver slipped and scratched teh Mobo, a deep cut yet still work....except every few hours, the board makes a low pitch freq. noise like a baby crying for a second or two.

I will next try the XP2200 on a cheap M848A to see if it will run at 166, boy if it does, bye bye to my XP1800.

I am not power hungry, as most of my applications just demand memory, but guess I just want to see the 'real' world of O/C.

Not so keen on the Multi as the cheaper boards cant seem to lock the AGP or SCSI at the correct FSB.

I had my XP1700+ running at the same core speed as XP2800+. I now have my XP2100+ running at the same core speed of a XP2800+.

All new to this. lol

However ....... :D

Just built a new vid-edit system on an MSI K7n2 Delta-L mobo and overclocked an AMD 2500+ XP Barton to ...... 3200 and only running the official retail AMD fan too with no heat issues (must get that Aero 7 before I speak too soon!)

No hanging or freezes and I'm a very happy bunny as board + chip = less than £100. :)

Edit:-

Changed mobo to an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe due to ps2 sockets failing, even better now.

1800+ to 2600+ and still running silent

wmccull if its a palamino core dont bother, if its thoroughbred (most likely) then the easiest thing is to increase the fsb in the bios.. make sure you have ram that can run at that fsb though, and to test that its working properly download prime95 and run the torture test for 24hours... you can increase the core voltage in the bios as you increase the speed which can help stability but then you will get more heat coming off it so watch the temperatures too... if you have a cheap psu and/or cpu heatsink beware... but if you go up in small steps you should be ok

Just done my first testin/learnin with OC, got my 2.4Ghz P4 Northwood to 3.0Ghz no problems at all, no temp change, no instability, standard fans and HS, took some finding though a web site with some decent information on it..

I need to find out more about memory timing frequency if anyone can help?

You should set your RAM timings to a preferably higher value, to help give the RAM more headroom. The lower the timings the harder it is for the RAM to run at higher speeds.

My 2.8 P4 is running at 3.2 with stocl cooling and idling nicely at 33degrees ;) Mind you the temp has dramitically dropped since installing this COLORit 400w PS with 120mm fan.
