Calling Ps2 Console Gurus

hI gUYS hope hope you can help

got a PS2 with a messiah 2 chip, but all of a sudden its stopped reading dvds games wont boot even original films wont play it worked fine the night before and in mornin g no joy.
Any ideas? could it be laser? WOuld it go just like that? Or what else could it be

could be the alser, could be a loose wire on the chip. or in my wife's case, you could have accidentally held "Reset" too long (thereby turning the chip off) and then go screaming to your husband that the PS2 is broken. lol

ah yeah never thought of it being turned off lol, but wouldnt turning it back on just reset it?

power switch off then on(1 at the back) will put the chip default back on.

original films only boot when chip is off.

emm loose wires happens often ish but thats gona require some expert maintenance to fix so i wont even try to guide u there.

if the chip has been turned off.just put it in standby and power up with reset or eject.
