I have a ralink wireless card on my main pc and when I try to connect to the internet it doesn`t work so I clicked connect on the settings and it will show the icon connected but then the status bar for link quality goes from 100% to 0% every few secs and the small ralink icon on the bottom right corner goes from green to red, it does this continuously and wont show any web pages.
Its been giving bother for a while now and so was thinking on buying a wireless adapter today and see if that was any better but was wandering if I have to delete the ralink card before I install the adapter, if anyone could help me in this I would be very grateful.

Have you tried looking for an updated driver for the card ?

Had a guy in fixing my network setup a couple of weeks ago and I think he updated it, charged me £70 for the pleasure too. Does anyone know where to get updated drivers for the ralink pci card?

The Windows drivers for Ralink network adapters can be downloaded from this page (http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/Support/Windows.html). If the latest driver can't fix the problem, try the adapter in a different PCI slot. I have a D-Link wireless n adapter that also uses a Ralink chipset and it worked very very good. Also, make sure you're not out of the wireless range (from the router).

The router is sitting beside the PC so its not out of range but I`ll try the driver update and see what happens.
Thanks.

If you're running Windows XP, it's recommended to update to SP3 (http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/windows-xp-service-pack-3.html) (if you've not updated it) for better wireless supports.

If the Router is sitting beside the PC, why are you using wireless ? ..... you would be much better of just fitting an ethernet cable from your Router to your standard NIC Card, unless, of course, you don't have one ;)
