I am having major problems getting rid of spyware! A Winows Security Alert keeps popping up that says:

"Warning! Potential Spyware Operation!
Your computer is making unauthorized copies of your system and Internet files. Run full scan now to prevent any unauthorized access to your files! Click here to download spyware remover..."

Also, there are two icons in the bottom right of my screen, next to the clock: A red 'x' and a yellow caution sign. The red 'x' says: "Windows has detected spyware infection! Click here to protect your computer from spyware!"

The yellow caution sign says: "Your computer is infected."

There is also another window that pops up that says:

"Windows Antivirus

Windows has detected spyware infection!

It is recommended to use special antispyware tools to prevent data loss. Windows will now download and install the most up-to-date software for you.

Click here to protect your computer from spyware."

I have ran an AVG Virus scan, an Ad-Aware scan and two Spyware scans: Spy Sweeper and Spyware Doctor. But, I am still getting these pop-ups! I also get a pop-up window that says:

"ATTENTION! If your computer is infected, you could suffer data loss, erratic PC behavior, PC freezes and crashes.

Detect and remove viruses before they damage your computer! Antivirus 2009 will perform a quick and 100% FREE scan of your computer for Viruses, Spyware and Adware.

Do you want to install Antivirus 2009 to scan your computer for malware now? (Recommended)"

I am also getting a LOT more pop-ups than before and when I type, it is leaving letters out. It is like the keys are not working! Can anyone please help me get rid of this spyware? Thanks in advance!

The main spyware/adware are the ones that told you to DL something to scan your PC because it was infected. Try SuperAntiSpyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/). Get the latest virus definition update before running a full scan.

Try:

Spybot

and start using a good AVP - such as AVAST.

Start using Firefox too - get rid of IE.

Best of luck ;)

My fav trick is to install Avast and set to scan when next restart, as this will destroy most of the core components so when Windows starts again, the rest are much easier to remove.

Thanks for all of the replies. The icons in the lower right are finally gone. However, it is still leaving out letters when I type. Also, I am getting pop-ups, even with a pop-up blocker and it is EXTREMELY slow!

Yea, I ran SmitFraud. But, I am still having problems. I am now having problems shutting down my PC. When I click on Start and Turn Off, the PC begins the shutting down process. However, it restarts and comes back on!

Anyone know why I can't restore prior to August? When I click on the arrow to go to the month before, it won't do anything. It won't even let me click on the System Restore 'Help' icon.

Also, anyone know why the 'Work Offline' box keeps popping up? It even does it as soon as I start up my computer. Thanks for all the help guys!

OK, I have now ran into ANOTHER problem! When I shut down now, I get a 'blue' screen that says:

"STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down."

So, now, how do I get rid of the 'blue' screen? I have done EVERYHING that I know to do and this piece of SH*T still won't work properly! :furious: I am also getting pop-ups every few minutes! Can ANYONE help me get my computer fixed? This is getting fricking ANNOYING! :furious: Thanks!

Did you scan the PC with SuperAntiSpyware?

Did you scan the PC with SuperAntiSpyware?

No, I haven't used SuperAntiSpyware. But, I have used Spy Sweeper, Swyware Doctor, Ad-Aware SE and AVG! And, I am still having problems! So, would SuperAntiSpyware be any different? My PC is freezing up a LOT now as well! Thanks for the reply.

OK, I am currently scanning with SuperAntiSpyware and got the following message:

"SUPERAntiSpyware.exe - No Disk

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive D:."

Try configuring SuperAntispyware.
Download, install, update, configure, scan.

The "D" drive is probably an optical drive, with no disc loaded.
If it is, use the configuration to remove it from the scan target.

Yep, configure SuperAntiSpyware to scan the HDDs only and not the optical drives. Obviously, you have a few nasty things that SAS has detected.

Folks, for a small cost (~ $30 US), we should better get the Pro version of SuperAntiSpyware because it'll give you extra features such as hijack protection, real time protection and full scanning schedule/control, which work darn good and are worth the money we pay for the software.

If you have the free version installed and uninstall it, it will take you to this l (http://www.superantispyware.com/uninstallsurvey.html?trial=no&installdate=2007-09-25&installtime=09:32:51&faultcount=0&version=4,%2015,%200,%201000)ink, which gives you a one day offer of $19.95.

If you dont have the free verison installed, just use the link here and save $10 ;)

We also need to have a good firewall. Windows' built-in firewall is just too basic.
