firstly i cant find a good solid site that sells htpc's except for ebay, but what i want to know is if it is better buy one built or buy the components and make it yourself. if anybody has done the latter could they say the main parts they used for it, mobo, video & graphics, tv card and cooler/fan.

thanks

Building your own system is the best way to put together only the components you like. You'll first need to determine b/w Intel and AMD processors which one you prefer then build a system around it.

and if you don't fancy working out which CPU and memory will be compatable with which motherboard, places like Novatech sell bare bones where you can add the case, hard drives, optical drives etc
