Hi guys,

Recently got a second monitor. Anyone know of any free decent software to take advantage of it like extend start bar across both screens, move items on start bar so they are on right screen, easily send items form one monitor to the other etc. Looking for a freebie version of ultramon or the likes.

Thanks,

Yoshi

I normally just use the nvidea drivers to stretch the desktop across. Seems to do the trick and videos only fullscreen on one monitor which is good as there's no line down the middle where the two screens meet.

what OS are you using?
I can't speak for any others, but if a graphics card has 2 outputs or you have 2 graphics cards you can usually just do it within windows, no other software needed (except the drivers for the card(s) )

I've used Dual monitor set ups for years (started with monitor & TV and am now back to monitor & HDTV)

I've got 2 monitor connections and got the desktop spread across the 2 monitors. I'm using Windows XP. With the desktop spread across 2 monitors, the start bar only goes across one screen. And all apps always start on the primary screen instead of the screen on which they were last used. I've tried the ultramon demo which spreads the start bar across monitors and allows you to re-arrange the progs in the start bar which is the main thing I want.

I've never used any software to do it before. the nVidea drivers that came with my card allowed me to assign programs to a specific window and it remembered them. The startbar was till only on one screen though.
