Amazon are doing the Medion MD40814 Divx Multi-region DVD player, for £50 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001WTU1W/ref=sr_aps_electronics_1_1/026-7482543-9674864).

No reviews on this model specifically as i assume its pretty new but found this review for another medion player (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=3856&Search=Search&#comments) which is reasonably favourable. Can't work out if its a rebadged player from another manufacturer

Makes no mention of xvid comapitibility which i guess is the more used codec nowadays but i'm sure it'll work with firmware upgrades.

Gonna stick with xbmc myself but may be useful for some of you other guys

It looks like the same company which Hyundai used, and I can't remember the exact name.

The non-DiVX version of this player was pretty good, very media friendly and very slimline.

Couple of people have bought this on another forum i use and they have confirmed it can play xvid too, and apparently has RGB out and Progressive scan.

So looks like a bargain

Well I have one on the way, because I'm sick of my DreamX and if this one is no good I can get my cash back on ebay anyways :)

Nah, this was just a straight DVD player made for a company called DreamSat Electronics. It isn't bad but the DiVX playback isn't too hot and the player isn't very compatible (lots of retail DVDs crash it).

Thanks for pointing this player out btw, I now have mine installed.

Not bad at all, it's extremely media friendly (will play just about anything including some really awful media, CDR or DVDR). It's a fairly good looking, slimline player as well, and goes quite well with my Tosh RDXS30 which is a bonus.

It has RGB/SVid/Component out, 5.1 sound output including Pro Logic, will play DiVX very well including fast search which the DreamX couldn't do very well, I haven't been able to make it crash yet and the menu system is intuitive if a bit basic.

Only problem I'm having so far is that the picture is a little dark, although this might be tweakable. Good find :D
