What exactly do you mean by the pointer is "not right"?

Example would be if I wanted to click on the save icon I would have to put my cursor a bit to the left and outside of the icon to click it.

Control Panel > Mouse > Pointers and set the scheme to (none). Apply

I have a logitech bluetooth mouse and with this one i need to use it's own software to re-calibrate it,
maybe your dell one is the same with it's own software that came on a disc when you bought the mouse.

My above post will work with any mouse that is fully valid and working.

I agree with you both but if the mouse comes with its own tool, in most cases I would prefer that tool because it would give more accurate adjustments than Windows mouse control, especially if the mouse has programmable buttons. BTW, Logitech bluetooth mice are fantastic. I bought a V470 bluetooth laser mouse for $15 and I loved it so much that I bought another one for the wife for her laptop. :)
