what version of nero- if v6+ then use dvd-video, otherwise using nero burning rom select dvd, iso/udf, select the udf tab and check the "Force DVD-Compatibility mode (Required for xbox)" box, and try burning at either 1x or 2x (if you've been burning at 4x)
having said that i'd say its more than likely to be those "tango" g04's that are the problem

You poor UK folks. All sorts of "Ritek" media to confuse ya. Never had that problem here with Unbranded Riteks or Ridatas.

Ritek, Traxdata and Ridata branded discs are all supposedly Ritek's own brands, so they'd be a good start.
Arita are Ritek's "budget" line, and avoid the aritadiscs which have a landscape print on the front
Then there are Datasafe's which have been very good recently- someone here- think it was geobon but i may be wrong, explained how basically that of the "Datasafe Family" (Datasafe, Datawrite, Bulkpaq), Datasafe push their A-grade media through The Datasafe line and the shoddy media through the other two lines.

Also .... I have had good results with Ridisks & Ritek Branded, both available at SVP
BTW you didn't mention what Burner you have ..... some makes (NEC especialy), have problems with Riteks, using the shipped firmware.
Also .... are you sure your Logix DVD 3000 can play DVDR's .... not all players can.

My Bro has a Logix 3000 so I know where you are coming from. I'm relatively certain it's not media cos despite a few MINOR skips he generally gets good results from any films I give/lend him.
If you have a DVD thats giving you probs (the route I always go is) using DVD decrypter rip the entire DVD to HD. Then use IfoEdit to correct VTS sectors and save if there are any found to be wrong (if that part has gone over your head LMK and I'll elaborate). A surprising ammount of films are released lately with both incorrect VTS sectors and user prohibitions not removed. Frankly it's ammateur and very annoying.
Finally ensure you have a Dummy AUDIO_TS folder to go with your VIDEO_TS folder (don't know why, mixed opinions on this but I always add as it does no harm) then for 100% compatability burn back with Stomp RNM using the Data Disc option. For me Nero has improved but I still don't 100% trust it, and I never fix what isn't broken and RNM has NEVER let me down when I've mastered Multi's Ripped or whatever.
If you state which films you are having probs with, chances are I have them and I can let you know if the symptoms are relating to the above. I've had to reburn loads of the latest releases I've fixed lately. A right royal pain in the ***.

Varying results with this player .... see here :

I would still recommend you grab some Grade A Riteks, before doing anything else, as this will likely solve the issue.
If the Riteks dont do it .... nothing much else will.
I'm assuming you have a Pioneer Burner .. yeah ?

Brother and dad have had them since they were first out (quite a long time now) they both deffo do play DVD-R. Not just limited to Ritek. I generally re-record all the discs I get in from traders onto Ritek for myself and then give away the originals to family to watch. The Logix don't appear to be tooooo fussy. Not great but not bad either. If you have one that cant read DVD-R at all i'd say it's not worth the bother and I'd bin it. Fot the price of a new one it's not worth the bother. My local Tesco has some DVD's @ £23. couple of locals have brought them and they appear to play DVD-R no probs.

<shudder>
LiteOn drives aren't the best with -R media full stop, regardless of brand.
Might be an idea to try some Ricoh/Ritek 4x +R discs and change the bitsetting on your drive so that they're more compatible -- the LiteOn burners do definitely seem to prefer +R to -R.

Jase 1 is correct. The Lite-On drives have so so results with -R media.
What I would do is get some +R media and download the Bitsetting Utility and use it to change the Book Type from DVD+R to DVD-ROM for each burn. DVD-ROM should have better compatibility with most DVD players as they can all read ROM.

A jase1 said ... you may have better results if you switch to +r media.
My advice would be to get a sample pack of different brands, b4 committing to any qty.
