help with scanning

Need a little help, what resolution should I use to scan colour photos, at the minute it's 200 dpi it can go as high as 1200 dpi.

Resolution depends on what exactly you want to do with the image.

Obviously the higher the resolution, the larger the image size will be but the more detail will be stored.
