As I don't know what the source of the problem is, decided to post in Open to All. Recently, I've been getting the error "Internal Controller Error" in Disc Juggler when trying to burn DVD-Rs. There are a couple factors here which are making it a bit tougher for me to narrow down the problem.

- Pioneer DVR-105: had it for awhile and have been using it a lot more lately. did I push it too hard?

- HDDs: test fine in PowerMax quick test. haven't had time to run the complete test yet.

- Media: I am using the same brand I have always used but recently Rima.com has switched over from carrying the 1x discs to the 4x discs for the same price ... so that's what they sent me. Perhaps the new media aren't of the same quality as the 1x?

Anyway, I've gotten this error only twice out of about 40 burn attempts but I still hate coasters. I get the error during the leadin of the burn so I my first guess is the discs or the burner but I'd like to be sure. Any advice is appreciated. tia :)

Internal Controller Error usually a Low level hardware problem (device error). Check IDE Configuration and cables.

I have checked and replaced the cable on the secondary channel (where the Pio is) as I got a HDD error about a month ago. The HDD seemed to be working fine on another PC though and the error was intermittent. My next worry is that it is the mobo.
