I've £750 to spend on a Gaming PC with TFT. What Specs do I need and Where do I buy?

I am looking for a Gaming Machine that can play Far Cry Smoothly and Fast

What specs do I need?

Can it be done for £750?

Where do you recommend I buy from?

Here are the specs I am roughly looking for:

512 MB RAM OR HIGHER (prefer 1GIG of RAM) PC3200 DDR400

3200+ OR HIGHER PROCESSOR or FAST PENTIUM 4 PROCESSOR FOR GAMES

Hard Drive (Fairly Large for Games)

DVD ROM DRIVE (DON'T NEED A DVD WRITER or Floppy Drive)

A good Motherboard

Don't need a Modem

PC Case (must be small or fairly small) eg: Shuttle Case or MSI case or other?

Windows XP Installed

Gamepad (prefer cordless)

Keyboard (doesn't need to be cordless)

Mouse (doesn't need to be cordless)

Speakers (if the monitor doesn't have them)

Thank you for your help :)

I look forward to hearing from you all with your suggestions

well judging by the replies to your post on the computer forum, looks like you won't be able to do it without swapping the tft for a crt monitor, and then you might just be able to keep it to £750

Yep, TBH, you'll need a min of 17" TFT for gaming or just go with a 17" CRT.

Erm thats a hard budget to work with mate. This seems to be around what you want, but £50 over.

But if I buy it from Ebuyer, would it be simple to put all the parts together myself or not?

As long as your quite familier with computers etc it shouldnt be a hassel, remember you can always post on here.. and it all comes with manuals.

But if I buy it from Ebuyer, would it be simple to put all the parts together myself or not?Always a tricky one to answer, it really depends on you. If you have experience with replacing components such as drives, memory and PCI/AGP cards etc then you should be able to muddle through easily enough. If you don't even recognise the names of some of these things - you might be in trouble.

There are a few tricks and things to watch out for along the way, but a good google search will find you plenty of online guides to building your own PC - and as Kashi says, you can always post up here.

If you've really no idea at all and don't know anyone with some experience who can help you out then I would personally recommend against it. I guess it depends how far you back your own competence :)

Rough guide - an experienced person can put a machine together in less than an hour.
