Hi all,

Anyone have this? and can some explain why this thing wont charge? The blinking red light is supposed to turn green when I place it in the charger, but it doesnt. I only seen it turn green once. The mouse lasts a week and then I have to replace the batteries. Even if the mouse sit in the craddle for days..POS!!! I have tried there website, which was useless..google came up with nothing. BTW, this is the 3rd after taking the first two back.

Any help or enlightenment would be appreicated.

Thanks

yeah i got the combo, you using ni-mh batteries?

i've had no probs with it so far- been about two weeks now- had an issue with the itouch software but upgraded it from the site- latest version is 0.22 i think. doubt that has any effect on the cradle/charger though

could there be some protective plastic film on the contacts on the bottom of the mouse that are preventing the the mouse completing the charging circuit?

sounds stupid but have you connected the power adapter to the cradle- i don't think it gets enough power from the usb hub

could be the power adapter thats screwed, any way you can check the thing on a multimeter

Logitech MX Optical Desktop (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=486,CONTENTID=6831)- this is the one (RF frequency one) i assume your talking about Snatcher? not the bluetooth one? Although I'd assume the same things apply to it

Ps2wiz, it is the MX700, with a wireless keyboard too- although i think the prob he has is specific to the MX700 mouse

Taken from another forum

Some MX700s suffer from poor contact when seated in the charging cradle. Here are somethings that you can try:

1. Make sure you clean the contact points on the mouse and the charging cradle.

2. Place your mouse on the charging cradle, slowly tilt the mouse from left to right until the red light in the back goes off and the green charging light comes on and slowly remove your hand to leave it in that position. Ensure that the green light stays on. Its kinda like playing Jenga with your mouse and charging cradle. Once you find the sweet spot you can add a few layers of electric tape on the inner left or right of the cradle to ensure your mouse sits in that position everytime you place it in the cradle.

3. Even though Nickel Metal Hydride batteries are not supposed to have memory problems, it is advisable to complete discharge and recharge them every so often.

4. The rechargeable batteries that are included with the MX700 is what I refer to as "el cheapo", try to change them after 6 months of use. I personally like Sanyo, but GP and Energizer are pretty good as well.

Hey guys, Thanks for the replies!!!

@nimbles, yes I am using ni-mh batteries. I replaced the crap batteries it came with, with energizers (rechargables 1700mAh). Power adapter is connected, and there is no film on the contacts. And yes it is the one in your link the mx700.

@wiz, yes mx700

@emailrob, I have tried tilting it from left to right, but nothing.

This one is brand spankin new. I actually I have 2 mice and 2 craddles and both do the samething. I had to replace the batteries again shortly after I posted this. I put the new batteries in, 5 min later I put the mouse in the charger and the light started blinking green..wtf??? So I went to bed, just woke up and the light was off. All the contact points are clean. Again thanks for all of your replies.

light off means its fully charged- (i hope :)- cos thats what happens when i wake in the morning having dumped the mouse in the cradle the previous evening

Thats what I was thinking, but it says in the stupid oversized instrutions that a solid green light means fully charged. Even when the light starts blinking red and I put it in the charger it stays red. I like the mouse and the feel, it just annoys me to keep changing out the batteries. My friend has this same model and works fine for him, and he doesnt even know how to turn on a computer.
