Wondered how long it would be before SVP start to try and milk Northern Ireland customers for more dosh....I mean the stuff comes from them via parcel force and certainly not at any great speed....does it cost more to send via parcel force to Northern Ireland.....no....according to the Royal Mail web site....the prices look the same as when I send stuff to England or Scotland....so what's going on?
What it costs
Maximum weight Price 1kg £3.46 1.5kg £4.452kg £4.78 4kg £7.20 6kg £7.86 8kg £8.9610kg £9.62 30kg* £11.21
no difference according to Royal Mail it seems....so who makes more out of Northern Ireland customers....I spoke to 4 of my mates today.....looks like everybody is changing supplier.:bawling:
I don't reckon I can recommend to any more mates if there's no change of direction at SVP...I've sent a fair bit of business their way already....looks like a new supplier then:wavey:

well instead of moaning take advantage of this weekends special and spend £75 and recieve delivery for 1p to N.Ireland, and if you don't buy in bulk then that costs you even more in the long run anyway regardless of postal prices.

Geobon......
Think you've missed my point....we can all manage to build a £50 order....but the point is....why should we have to order more to get the same shipping deal as someone......oh....lets see....for example....in SCOTLAND.....dya ken what a mean now....surprised a Scot can't recognise it when someone is being stitched up by the English....just out of curiosity....how many dvds do you burn in a week?

Ah, but if you are in England you could also like me be thinking ..... "Hold on it was only a £30 spend to get cheap shipping before and now it's £50 ?!?" :D:D
Hell either way I don't know how they offer such crazy delivery whether it's 99p or 1p, I'll just double up on what I need to justify the extra spends ..... even though I only needed some DVD cases really at the mo.
After all, none of their competitors offer such cheap del charges. And I'm not biased as Steve will vouch but credit where it's due I say! :D

per week 50+, But thats not the point supposing i only burnt 10 a week i'd still buy 200 minimum per order, forget the 1p P&P, if i buy 200 and pay £4 for shipping thats only £4 its cost me, but supposing i but 50 x 4 then that £16 im paying for shipping, Im not defending what they charge for P&P outside of UK mainland but what i am saying is order double what you normally do and it'll cost you less after all they won't go to waste will they. Ive sent loads of stuff to N.I via royal mail and it costs the same as sending to london, but its a different story using a courier, Look around m8 its the couriers that charge more for shipping to N.I not SVP that and the fact that insurance cover is more expensive shipping outwith the UK mainland.

I'm in northern ireland as well
As far as I can remember it is citylink who deliver my orders from svp, and as I regulary order computer components from companies in england you will find it is always the same. there is a surcharge added on to any delivery charge to send to n. Ireland.
Although this charge can vary greatly from about £8 to £25 and thats when it gets annoying, when someone tells you there is a £25 surcharge when it is quite clear the courier only andds on 7 or 8 quid.

As stated above the insurance cover is more expensive for sending to N.I so im afraid SVP have to cover themselves, If you think there just trying to make extra money by overcharging customers from N.I then your being silly, If they wanted to make more money they would just add 10p onto all postal methods not just charge the few customers they have in N.I extra, Anyhow if they are sending by royal mail like you say why don't you give them a phone and query it rather than posting here, that way you'll get the answers you want.
Yep, truth of the matter is it costs more to send stuff to NI, it's hardly SVPs fault. Also, a lot of online retaliers subsidise their shipping to start with, not sure if SVP do that mind.

Hold on a minute guys, you all seem to be beating around the bush...
Royal Mail charge the same to send to Scotland or Northern Ireland
Royal Mail have the same "scale" for insurance on their parcels
My SVP stuff comes via Royal Mail
back to my point...why do we (Northern Ireland) have to place a more expensive order?...who benefits?...yet to see anyone answer yet...and I know SVP visit the forum...so....?
Say there Duplicitous, any relation to Duplitape?

1) AFAIK SVP only send smaller orders via Royal Mail, well they do in England. Everything else comes via Interlink, again AFAIK.
2) Wouldn't it be best to contact SVP directly about this as they will be able to explain everything I'm sure?

naw m8, never thought of that before.
P.S. I usually order for a few of my friends at the same time im placing my order, which is why i think my stuff comes from citylink, just as well as the post man comes too early. also helps keep the posatage down when it is split a few ways

thats what I do m8-take advantage of the cheap shipping weekends, share the order with your m8s,youll pay top whack if you order during the week
The alternative is to buy from mplex , jericho or duplitape but you will find discs a couple of quid dearer

I found Mplex and Jericho great to deal with, very nice people and after all whats 10p a disc more in the long run? You get it back the first spindle of duff ones you can walk up the road and get replaced and thats not forgetting the dodgy post we have here nowadays.

Just to add some fuel to this little fire, I went onto SVP to order 2 packs of blanks and 50 padded envelopes.
Anyway I added a few more things in as you do, and when I went to the delivery it came to £18.50 so I thought "F**k that" and went to take stuff out. So after removing nearly all the additional stuff the cost is STILL £18.50 for special delivery and that is terrible considering the goods only cost £26.99 in total! So for a few cr*ppy padded envelopes I get the priviledge of paying nearly double the cost.
It actually works out cheaper to buy them down my local post office.

I'm afraid these are royal mails charges for special delivery,if itmes come over 2kg then to send next day special delivery then it would come to £18.50
i always pick 1-2 working days delivery via interlink I get quite a lot delivered for £4.99 delivery & items are tracked & usually turn up next day never had a problem using this method
