Hey guys
i backed up my copy of The Rundown DVD using the tutorial method in this forum. However the movie didn't comeout well. It plays but there are boxes like small colour boxes on the screen. Also in some chapters it freezes.
What could be the problem?

It could be your media .... what media are you using ?

Can't say that I've heard of Starmedia, but if it's a cheap generic disk, you may try using a Ritek G04.

You didn't say how you made your backup, or what burner you are using, but the symptoms you describe are typical of bad media.

The media suggestions are sound, one should try various media and then test the burn in something like Nero CD/DVD (Transfer Rate test) till you get a result similiar to this:

This shows a nice match for my burner. You should then stick to that media and avoid the temptation to chase rebates for media that may not be a good match. This graph is for RitekG04's, which my burner seems to like. They are now the only media I ever use.

Concerning InterVideo 2 though, quite a few people have reported similair problems to yours that they did not have with version 1.2. Some have said it's a bug that InterVideo is aware of, but I've seen no real confirmation of this.

2 questions for you man.
first, can you name some quality discs that are cheap. Is Princo good?
BTW my DVD player is Sony DVPNS15

secondly,
If is encode and save a dvd on to my HD with DVDCopy 2 and burn it with Neor or something, is it better than burning with DVDCopy 2?

For MAX compatibility with DVD players then anything with the Ritek G04 dye or Taiyo Yuden dye is usually best, stay away from Princo's on that basis. They might be fine on one player but not even play on another.

DVD Copy 2 seems to be fine for burning going by the discs I've done so far, CloneDVD for just burning your saved movie files is also very good from my experiences too.
