my burner is x4 speed but its only giving me the option of burning at x2 my media is X8 any idears??

First, wrong forum.

It could be your burner doesn't accept the blank dvd, or you need a firmware upgrade of your burner.

Yup, BTW why on earth did you get 8x media for a 4x drive? 4x media is much cheaper. Anyways the most common culprit is that the DMA mode isn't enabled (it is in PIO mode) and that creates problems with the burning speeds. As mentioned it could be that a firmware upgrade is needed (especially if you are using 8x media on a 4x drive).
