Basically my 360 had 3 red rings and is on its way back to micr0s0ft, a mates had the red rings but as it was banned they would not touch it
my question if mine comes back and is a new unit, i.e. no longer flashed, can I put the drive from my m8s flashed unit into mine and it still work?
if so, how easy is it to swap over?
cheers
You would need the unique Drive Key from your original drive, you might have this if you already have a firmware dump from when it was flashed the first time - however you cannot be sure you have the same unit back from MS.
Safest bet is to dump the firmware from the drive when it returns, but then you may as well flash that drive rather than swap them around, as you would need to flash the firmware anyway containing the new key.

Even if it has the same serial number and drive model when it comes back, don't make the mistake of assuming it will have the same drive key. Always take a fresh backup before doing anything else to the drive.

either way it would mean you would have to reflash the drive so it would probably easier to just flash the new system id have thought
