Hi guys, i hope someone can help.

I have a wireless netgear router dowstairs hard wired into my original xbox (so i can stream movies/music etc.) from my pc which is up stairs. this pc connects wirelessly to the router via a netgear dongle that came with my router. My 360 is next to my pc so this is what i am hoping to achieve...

360 hard wired (with ethernet cable that came with the 360) to the pc which gets it internet connection from my netgear router downstairs via a netgear wireless adaptor dongle. However whenever i connect the cable from my 360 to my pc, my pc loses its internet connection??? however it still syas in the info bar that is it connected to my wireless network??

I dont really want to fork out for a xbox wireless adaptor as my 360 is right next to my pc! I also dont want to move my router upstairs as i will then no longer be able to stream files to my original xbox.

I hope that makes sense and i hope someone can help me find a solution.

Thanks

Pie

Have you tried rebooting after connecting the cable? Are you using windows built in network management or netgear's soft?

btw, I've never tried it but a post on here not long ago said what you want to do is possible. I'd like to do the same at some point.

Thanks for your advice Acheron, i have tried rebooting aftr connecting and that doesn't seem to make any difference.

Im not that clever when it comes to networking but i am sure im using windows network management rather than netgears.

I went to the properties of my wireless connection and have set it to share the connection, but still not working, as soon as i plug in the 360 ethernet i loose my internet connection even though the status bar says its still conected to my wireless network and the signal strength is excellent.

I have no idea how to overcome this and i cant find anything online that helps.

Hope you have more luck than me.
