I've seen 1 or 2 others mention this and I've personally seen no evidence to support the idea that playing a game before retail release will get you banned. Sometimes a region-free game will get released in 1 country months before another - M$ wouldn't ban you for playing an original from another country so I can't see them banning you for playing a backup solely based on the fact that it's not released yet in your region (or any region for that matter). That being said, if you somehow feel safer waiting, then by all means do so. :)

To be fair to Acheron I always used to run my backups before release date untill the ban hammers started never had a problem and still not banned dont think MS would pay attention if the game completely checks out. But u could always play it offline and to be completely safe remove the harddrive then the console wont even register its been played :)

Iv mainly played the games before the release date just cuz i get the game asap, and playing it not knowing when the release date is, as i dont really care.

The release date for me, is when i have it available to download and burn it
