Hello guys--

My Xbox is not reading my DVD-R's burned on my moms Hi-Val DVD-+R burner... Any Idea what the problem is??... When I take the DVD-R's home to my house I copy them to another DVD-R on my Cendyne burner, and they work... I use Verbatim DVD-R's on both burners but for some reason my games are not being read on my Xbox from her burner.... Any Ideas???

Not really sure, you might get better help posting this in the dvdr forums also.

I have read elsewhere that there can be big differences in dvd burner quality.
I'm guessing the Cendyne is a rebadged Pioneer and the +/- burner isn't of the same quality.

could be. someone else on another forum i use basically had the same prob burning dvd's on an optowrite dvd burner- dunno if that is a rebadged HiVal burner or vice/versa.

My suggestion would be to burn at 1x- it may then work- burning at lower speed causes less burn error (different to a complete failed burn which your burning software would flag)- something that many xbox drives are sensitive to.

for instance i have a pioneer 105, my xbox plays pretty much any dvd-r i throw at it burned at upto 4x- but dvd-rw's even if they are 2x only work if i burn them at 1x.

Yes the Hi-Val is the Rebadged Optowrite...

Is there any firmware that I should try???

and yes I have been trying to burn them at 2X speed so I will attempt to lower the Burn speed this weekend when I go back to rochester...

Thanks for the thoughts, Keep em coming..
