View Full Version : Help with usb hard drive

Got a ide internal drive in a caddy when i plug it in it goes through finding it and saying its ready to use but the drive isnt available to selet nothing shows up. Got another one which shows up exactly the same drive apart from it being a bit smaller
Any help please

make sure its plugged in to the usb ports on the mobo, had a few probs with enough power getting to the front usb ports on some pcs. i.e. not enough power to run them sufficiently.

try start and right click on my computer then select manage which will take you to computer management then select storage and disk management,
can you see it now?

No it doesnt show there either

do you have another pc you can try the usb hard drive on just to see if it's working ok,
also check hardware device manager to make sure you don't have any yellow markers on it.

Does it not show in Disk Management ? .... Control Panel/Admin Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management

Phil disk management it showed and it needed a partition .. thanks for pointer
