Just found the site, looks great. Here's my problem:

It all started a week before Christmas. My CPU usage was constantly at 100%. I checked the processes and couldn't identify which program was causing this.

It got to the point where Windows wouldn't boot up and the hard drive failed to work. The monitor also gave in at the same time, which later when tested, proved to be a faulty graphics card. Then whilst trying a different graphics card in, which worked ok, the power supply went!!

I ran a diagnostics check from a cd whilst trying the other graphics card and it checked the motherboard/memory etc and all came back as working fine.

I replaced the hard drive, power supply, graphics card etc and everything worked. Formatted the new drive, and installed Windows. Everything was going sweetly for 2 days until I woke 1 morning to find that the computer was running very slow again. Check the usage and again, stuck at 100%. The only thing running was AVG Scanner.

Rebooted the computer and now it wont load up. It auto-powers up (as soon as its plugged in, it powers up without pressing the button on the front to turn it on). It doesn't send a signal to the monitor and it doesn't beep as it normally did when booting up. All fans are spinning fine but something keeps powering it up and it seems to me to be something to do with the CPU.

Any suggestions?

Currently, Ive unplugged everything from the motherboard except for the power cables and the CPU and it still auto-powers up. Someone told me that it could auto-power up if the CPU is overloaded or something but not sure. Now I wouldn't know where to plug all the cables back into the motherboard lol.

HELLLPPP!!!!

For the Auto Power up, I think there is a Setting under Power Management in the bios for that. Also could be a faulty power supply.

How many sticks of memory have you got in the machine? If more than one try using one at a time?

I cant access the bios cos the monitor doesnt come out of standby.
I have 4 sticks of ram (4 x 512mb) and as stated, they have all been tested and working.

Does anyone know how to stop the computer from auto powering up?

I just fitted a new 650w power supply.

Sounds like the mobo may have got damaged when the PSU blew.

You could be right m8, but what is baffling me is, the original fault when the cpu usuage was staying at 100% had the pc autopowering up sometimes before the graphics card and psu blew.

When I had replaced the parts, the machine worked fine for 2 days and then all of a sudden, it seems to be doing the same thing.

Was looking on ebay there . . does this seem like a cheap machine if i was just to replace my current machine?

It sounds very cheap for the spec.

Not a Games PC though, due to the on board graphics

Your old mobo was a Socket 939 board and I believe the Graphics Card was an AGP Interface.
You are likely to find it quite hard to find a board with 939 and AGP nowdays, as things have moved on a bit since your last box.
Most new mobos will have PCI-E Graphics slots and will have Socket 775 (Intel) or Socket AM2 (Athlon).

Also, it might not be the wisest move to choose a new mobo to fit around an outdated Graphics Card, which is worth about £20 ;)
