Hi, Basically I want to make a 7gb DVD fit onto a 4.5gb disc.

Is this possible, and how?
I understand that video/audio quality will be lost, but I really don't mind. Any help would be appreciated.

:)

Thanks.

As mentioned above DVD Shrink is a nice peice of freeware that will do the job beutifully. Do you have any burning software? If not then pick up DVD Decrypter. www.dvddecrypter.com (http://www.dvddecrypter.com) as DVD Shrink will link up and burn through DVD Decrypter in ISO mode provided you set the output in DVD Shrink. Also if you don't mind cutting out the menus and extras, you can in most cases get away with virtually no quality loss. Also remember that you can save a fair bit of space by removing extra audio tracks (ie DTS, Foreign language tracks, director's commentary, ect.). If you just want the movie, use the reauthor mode. Also make sure you go into the options and select the Deep Analysis option for movies that require high compression as it will make a noticeable improvement in the quality of the backup.

There is a (new?) program called TitleSet Blanker. It's a good combination to use with DVDShrink to preserve the menu structure by blanking out the extras, previews, etc.

Titleset Blanker (very fast but a bit clumsy), Dvd stripper and Vob blanker will all do the same thing- Reason i say Title set blanker is a little clumsy is because it can only blank a whole title set- (e.g. the whole vob series) sometimes you wanna keep some extras but not others, which are kept in the same vob series- in this case Titleset blanker won't work
