Got a modded 360, want to be able to play divx on it via the updated dash.
Is the update on the recently released Burnout Paradise disc?

If not is there any other way?

Thx

are you not online then to update it?

Benvo

Edit: If not i found this just looking on xbox site, http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/console/systemupdates.htm.
Thats getting the dash update, but not sure whether they comes with the dash update or need seperate. But if not you could take your HHD to a mate and download update and extra media update and put onto your xbox that way.

The divx update is seperate to any other dash updates.

You need to stick a divx/xvid file on a dvd/usb drive, sign in to Xbox Live with your profile (doesn't have to be paid for, a free xbox live silver account works) and attempt to play it from the media section. It'll ask you to download a codec, then when that's installed the divx files will play.

You can do this from any 360 but the divx files will only play when your profile is signed in.

Can you do this with a banned xbox?

With a banned xbox u need access to a unbanned one, say yours friends. I have a unbanned and banned and swapped the harddrive to get the update and the media update onto other xbox.

Hey quick question, i went on xbox live when i first received this 360, it asked me if i wanted to update the system. I then clicked NO, as i just wanted to play. Issue is i dont know if it updated the system since then anyways, or if i have to go into the settings to update the console now.

I guess i should try and insert a divx movie into it and see if it plays. As i know my other one played great.

The odd thing about the divx though, is that you need to be ONLINE to be able to watch it. Say your i net is down, or you bring your 360 somewhere with no connection you are unable to watch the divx, which i thought was odd

not true, once u've updated to play divx, u don't have to be online at all, i've been banned since updating, and i can play divx no probs.

you have to be signed in to your profile but not necessarily online.

When you press A on the mixed media disk does it open up listing the files on the disk, or do you get an error?

Found this, quoted from blackcatsgames and made by aceaz250

To save time for some people:

Q: I managed to get everything installed, but I burnt some DivX files to a dvd, and I cannot play them. It just says Mixed Media Disc and will not let me select it. What gives?

A: You cannot launch the files from a disc when you are on the Xbox LIVE blade of the dash. You must go to the Media blade, and move down to the video button. From there select current disc, and you should see the files listed in the left hand pane.

Think ive done that right as i am only passing on the info and not takin any credit for it.
