Forgotten password in windows 2000 pro

im wondering if any one can help me, my friend at work told me he has set up a password in windows 2000 pro and now cant remember it does he have to format the drive and reinstal or is there some way of bypassing it and changing the password, ive never used or seen windows 2000 but what he tells me it boots up and when he enters the password he thought it was it does nothing.

But stress that there are risks. If he plans a reformat & reinstall anyway, I guess he has nothing to lose.
