I have the retail version of kill bill 1 and the svcd joined and authored out version of kill bill 2.

My problem is i am trying to multi them.

I am using tmpeg dvd author.

My problem is kill bill 1 is ac3 48000hz 6 ch 448 kbps
and kill bill 2 is 2 channel mpeg

If i load one of the films into author it is fine but it wont accept both together , it is clearly being caused by the audio.
So the question is how do i get kill bill 1 from ac3 48000hz 6 ch 448 kbps:insane: to 2 channel, i appreciate this is a great loss of quality all round but i do want to do it.

The errpr message tmpg dvd author gives is character-string'%' is not correct or does not equal to quoted number

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers all.

Ok guys,

I think my problem is that one version is ntsc and the other is pal and both aspect ratio's are differant does this make it a non starter ?

I only want to put a menu to be able to select either film but i guess the ntsc/pal thing will prolly not allow ?

Just created two short sample clips (just a test pattern) one 16:9 NTSC and the other 4:3 PAL. TMPGEnc really doesn't seem to mind.

Just make sure that you add each as a seperate track, cause only thing I can think of is that you are trying to add them as a single track in which case I would think that they would need to be exactly the same.

Cheers celtic_druid i will try this when i get home and let you know how I get on.

Just a quick thought will the difference in audio make any difference or not ?

Thanks.

Some players won't like the mpeg audio. Personally whilst I was resampling I would have encoded as AC3 not mp2.

I wish i new how m8.

I use the tutorial as above written by Indianna Jones.

When starting with a svcd i rip the audio with dvd2avi to an .mpa file then i change the file name to mp3 then convert the mp3 to .wav then i load the .d2v file as my video and the .wav file to tmpgenc and produce a mpg2 file then i merge these file together and use tmpg dvd author 1.5 to author the disc.
How would i retain an ac3 track.
With the plug in i know tmpdencdvd author supports ac3 but i do'nt think tmpgenc does ?

Retain? I was talking about the SVCD, which never had AC3.
Quickest, cheapest and nastiest way would be just to use ffmpeg to directly convert the mpg's mp2 audio to AC3, resampling at the same time. No need to demux the audio first, can use the GUI to, pretty much just load the mpg and press convert.

For better quality do something like decode with madplay, resample with ssrc and then encode with a better quality AC3 encoder.

Hi Celtic_druid,

I just tried but tmpg dvd author states you cannot mix ntsc and pal on a single dvd !

Any ideas now please i'm stuck ?

Just tried again and it lets you add them but gives an error when it comes time to compile. I guess either convert one to PAL or the other to NTSC or find an NTSC or PAL version of either.

That said I did just manage to author an NTSC and PAL disc with DVDShrink. DVDLab may also work. Hmm, gives a warning, lets you compile but then seems to play my 4:3 NTSC file as 16:9 PAL.

Is there a preference on which way to go.

Would it be better tyo convert the ntsc to pal or vice versa.
I'm just guessing a higer frame reate to a lower may be better ?
