SATA - IDE Connector

Can you connect a SATA hard drive to a 40 pin ide cable, or do you need an adaptor, I've got a Pci ultra 133 controller card onboard, would there be a significant increase in performance over the samsung 120gb 8mb Ata 133 spinpoint already installed.

Well I know they make adapters for ide to sata, not sure for the other way around, but to answer your question on speed..No it will not make it faster. Actually the good that comes of it (if they do make that adapter) is that it gives you more room in the case, getting rid of the larger ide cable. Besides the adpaters (for ide to sata) cost $40, not worth if you ask me. Oh and there is no way to connect it without the adapter.
