Have recently upgraded to Vista. I keeping getting a problem where I am unable to connect to any webpages including my router set-up screen (with either IE7 or Firefox), it appears that my adsl connection has died but torrent traffic still runs ok?

I have to reboot PC to get it working again?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try updating the driver for your Network (NIC) Card.

Strangly enough m8 i have the same problems as well and im using a wireless voyager 1055 usb adapter and a netgear router i eventually got fed up with rebooting the machine after it was on for 9 or 10 hours and reinstaled using an image i created when i first installed and after a couple of months its back again

No idea whats causing it but its annoying as hell

Im using utorrent as well and have the latest drivers for my wifi adapter as well

Have a look on your Router manufacturers website and see if there's a firmware upgrade for the Router. This can sometimes resolve Vista issues.

The router im using is the netgear DG834G (supplied by aol) i have tried the firmware from netgear but it will not load and locks the router up and i have to power cycle it before it will work again tried looking for the aol ones and cant fine them on the site

Any ideas ???

I might be wrong, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that the DG834g supplied by AOL has it's own cut down firmware, so you have an additional issue in the pot here.

Scratch that m8 got the firmware from the netgear site and it uploaded eventually and "seems" to be fine now will just keep an eye on it

upgraded to Vista

"upgraded" :laugh:

OK sorry ... this issue actually occurs with XP also and despite repairing PCs for years for a living, I have not yet found a real solution to the problem. Repairing network config/reinstalling drivers usually helps for a bit. Reinstalling the OS would of course help but I think it's an unnecessary step.
