kill bill japanese uncut dvd help

i have this dvd, is their anyway i can rip out the english subtitles that play throughout the film and just keep the japanese subs in?

Have you already burned it to dvd-r? if so just open it up in dvd shrink and remove the english subtitle- unless the english subtitles are "burned into the movie" in which case you are stumped

If its still on the hard drive I assume you have it as imae (.img, iso etc. file)? Get Daemon tools, mount the image in it (virtual drive- there are others out there- but daemon tools is freeware and works really well) open the mounted image (you should see a new drive and in it a video_ts folder) - then run it through dvd shrink and assuming it already fits on a dvd-r then select no compression so it doesn't try to transcode the the film for a second time

cheers nimbles, looking back at my post, I think I have written it wrongly, what i meant is that is there anyway to keep the subs just on when japanese is being spoken? tried switching english subs off, but it turns them off all the way thru

yeah i know what you mean- i just got it myself- was wondering the same thing, but i guess cos its the jap release, there's no english subs "burned into the movie"

short of reauthoring i'm not sure there is anything that can be done simply

have a look thru the posts about this version on vcdquality , a bloke there has posted how to do this , but its quite complicated
other than that -when the film starts -turn off the subs -then when jap dialogue starts-turn them on

There is a new release available where the English Subtitles come on only during the Japanese Dialog scenes, you might want to get that, would save you alot of trouble.

Did you try another version of shrink?

Indeed the 2nd rip of Kill Bill uncut keeps the DTS soundtrack, has the english subs in the right place, and generally fixed a few other faults that the 1st one had.
