Hi there,

Bought my Mum a PC for xmas. Got a Wireless PCI card and a 5.1 PCI Soundcard. Had the wireless card installed and working. Then installed the soundcard and the wireless card disappears. If I take them both out, start a fresh and put the wirless card back in, it works. Just can't seem to get both cards working together. I noticed in Device manager there is a few unknown hardware devices found saying PCI something or other that were there before I put in either card. It is this PC: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190176806050

Any suggestions?

Oli :)

The Christmas Spirit is still in your house and it's haunted your PC ha... ha... Please tell the make/model of the soundcrad and what OS you're running. I believe probably the system doesn't have enough resources for the add-on soundcard so try disabling the on-board soundcard.

At the moment, the soundcard works ok. It's the wireless card that doesn't work. It was a cheap Trust 5.1 soundcard and I'm using XP with SP3 integrated.

SP3??? Darn! There are a couple of things we can try:

- Switch the PCI slots for both cards.

- Disable the onboard sound if you have not done it.

It's likely a resource-conflict problem especially when you're running XP in PIC. Systems with I/O APIC (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/sysperf/IO-APIC.mspx) enabled are less likely to have this problem, however, PIC is the default setting in the BIOS.

I'll give them both a go and update.
