in short you need the GC broadband adaptor, final fantasy online game, lan setup or crossover cable (not sure on crossover cable), loader software and a mem card.

I run my GC by streaming the ISO's from my P.C...

...It's simple to do and the results are pretty good.

...£34.99 for the BBA is the going price m8, but as already mentioned u will also need...

1-Original 'old' copy of Phantasy Star Online (New versions are patched)
2-Mem card
3-X_over cable
4-Network card in your P.C
5-GC loader, lots available to choose from!
6-Some GC games/images.

...If u buy an adapter and all the other parts and u still want to know how to set it all up lmk :)

No u MUST use Phantasy Star Online (PSO), NOTHING else will work.

...PSO is made by SEGA, they put the code in to run online, fortunately they left the ability for PSO to log into basically any server!!!!

...Hence this is how the exploit was discovered and made to work. No other game has this potential, and later PSO games have been patched so that they won't run unsigned servers.

Eb*y, or a 2nd hand games shop should be the place to get an old copy of 'PSO online episode 1 & 2', dated 2002.

Paradox GC Disc Server v1.4.0 Beta (or any one with Disc Server in the title) is probably a better bet for u if u r just starting out as it has a graphical user interface (GUI) and is easy to set up and see whats going on.

...The one u have brings up a DOS box I think? like animal crossing loader?

A DOS based loader is preferred once u get used to whats happening, but your probably better off with a GUI loader IMO.

Eggblahhh (http://www.dvdrom-guide.com/forums/member.php?u=1133), check out the link below. Pretty much covers your setup queries.

opened gc server and ran game...server opened and started initializing on screen and just froze
If the load halts/freezes like that, try a different loader version. I couldn't get loader 1.4 to work on my system (freezes like you), but the rest of the loaders work fine (1.0-1.3).

Another reason for the freeze is if you have some kind of security software installed, ala Norton Internet Security. I always have to disable Nortons before any kind of transfer can occur.

Glad to hear your up and running m8 :)

...Wot do u mean by knackering up your mem card?

Do u mean u can't save streamed game data for instance?

Or what ?????

...Reason I ask is 'cos there are all sorts of tricks to get saves to work.

Every now and again pso says mem card damaged after the game has loaded but froze...(i should of said i got the thing working but never played a game yet lol...keeps stopping b4 i can play) and needs formatting but wont format so i have to reset and delete the files in slot B as slot A wont let me.....so i have to repeat the network setup all over again...you came accross the problem b4?

old engineer

Mmmmmmm something 'aint right, I've never had a prob like that b4.

I would say that u 'aint got it set up correctly as nothing should be corrupting/writing to the save file upon initialising. (Thats the whole point of only having to setup PSO once)

...U say that u 'aint played a game yet, have u actually got a game to load fully?

Eggblahhh

ok i solved that 1 lol....sometimes i need to take memory card out and re insert it...the prob i got now is...ive had 3 successful loads but the other games i have wont load...is this the file i have that is crap or do i need to use a diff dos loader?..im using psul 1.1 at the moment..

Nice 1 !

...You need to play around until u find a loader that works best for u, it sounds that u r on the right tracks though :).

If u read the nfo that comes with the game it sometimes tells u which is the best loader for that release. Some will only run with what the nfo say's, other's will run on anything.

I've run 2 different loaders which cover all games.

...Oh yeah, make sure u 'aint got any anti-virus software running in the background.

The latest build of Cubesoft Phoenix has pretty much everything you want - loaders, rippers, the n64/nes emulators built into it. I think it also has the MGS loader, not completely sure. I've never tried it myself though (lost interest in GCM backups - too much hassle, I much prefer to buy the games).

The ripper I've used successfully was the Gamecube ISO Ripping Server 1.0.0.30. It was one of the first rippers released, and worked perfectly fine. I think Cubesoft Phoenix has it built in.

The Maxconsole forums may have links to them. Else you could try google searching, bittorrent, irc.

...It appears to have EVERYTHING that u could ever need !!!!!

...Oh, and 'yes' it does have the MGS loader :)

i used to have the memory card problem when i was using a third party mem card.
i'm now using the nintendo official 251 (i think) memory card and have not had any corruption problems
