HI all, I wanted to get an USB external hd to download all manner of stuff too and wanted to use it on my ps3 and 360. Does the drive have to be formatted to either FAT32 or NTFS specifically for the 360 to be able to see it and play content? I'd prefer the NTFS side as I plan on using it to dl and play wmv hd movies on it and need to be able to write more than 4 gig to a file when unpacking rather than have to create partitions etc...
Was thinking of a 250 gig or 500 gig drive, but before I buy, was hoping someone could advsie me?
Cheers

For you to be able to put WMV-HD movies on which are more than 4GB ,
it would need to be formatted to HFS+ which is a MAC format and not sure if the PS3 supports it.

I have bad news for you if you have a WD Mybook... might have to look into it a bit more:

But looks like they are DRM'd

hmm.. but mine is
a) 250gb not the 1tb per the article
b) i am not trying to "network share" it .. i am trying to use if via USB on the 360... ie a big external hdd
surely the thing should work?

yes u can see in windows now cause its either fat 32 or ntlf formated and windows use these but xbox uses HFS+ and thats mac thats why u need macdrive to format the drive to HFS+ so u can watch them films on the 360
if u are on newsgroups its on there
