View Full Version : DVD drive and burner is disabled!!!???

I try to enablel the drives threw the device manager but when I do it says it cannot be enabled.
It gives me a code 22.

Im very confused.

You need to do some basic troubleshooting.

Check the power and IDE cables to the drives and verify that you have the Master/Slave jumpers set properly (i.e. one drive should be set to master and the other to slave). Finally, verify the BIOS setting for that IDE port.

I rememeber one time when i didn't shut down properly by pulling the power cord directly out all the time and this is what happen to me, all my cdrom drive icon disappear from My Computer :(

I tried and it failed.

I-wanna-be-infamous That is what happened to me but I did the hard reset button. now they gone. How did you get them back?

Try deleting or uninstalling the IDE Controller in Device Manager and reboot so Windows can redetect and reinstall it.

I did everythjing as described and no luck. Is there anything else i can do? I get a (CODE 41).

Perhaps slicebogey felt more comfortable posting to this old thread, and as it's already sorted, I see no problem. Especially as he/she has already went through a few steps before hand. However in the future, it's always a good idea to start your own thread, so don't be shy. :)

Has this drive worked in the past? Have you changed anything recently? Have you uninstalled any burnware?
