Red Ring of Death

My neighbours console has had harddrive failure but is out of warranty.
Would it be possible to lie to MS and get it repaired under the red ring of death or not?

If yes, what are the symptoms, just all three apart from top right flash?

MS have extended the ring of death fail for a 3yr warranty... Suggest they phone them, they should be able to get it repaired with no problem

Thing is, the console has NOT had the red ring of death, but is out of 12 month warranty, so the idea is to claim it has red ring of death and get it repaired.

WOuld that be possible?

If the Hard Drive has failed thats got nothing to do with the console, just ring up MS and tell them the Hard Drive ain't working properly, they should just replace it, they did with my Wireless Headset anyway

THe general opinion is that MS Europe will fix the box nqa... In the US they appear to be a little more enforcing of the whole thing... I would be surprised if there was a problem... The worst thats going to happen is they send it back unrrepairable or out of warranty.

They would tell you to remove the hard drive before sending it back with the three red light problem anyway
