What do i need?

Started my pc up earlier and the CD drive sounded like a helicopter...... tried loading Football manager and its saying to insert disk, tried exploring it aswell but no joy. So i reckon its died as its about 8 years old and the only thing that has survived the original build

My question is can i just get an external drive like this cheap bad boy SONY - 18X DVD REWRITER disque interne as all i use the drive for is football manager.

If the CD Drive has died and you go for an External USB Drive, you will have problems booting from an external drive, so if you need to reinstall your OS at some future date, you'll be stuffed. Some newer boxes have a bios that can boot from external devices, but unless the box is quite new, you probably wont have this option.
Have a look in bios and check .... if the option is not there, you would be better off replacing the drive inside the Tower .... you can change it for a burner if you want.
