Whats the deal with Xbox 360s and chipping now?
Whats the best drive to have?
Whats the best chip to have?
Can the chips be turned off like with the xbox1?
Can you play on live with the original games?
Can you play on live with hacked games?
TIA!

As far as i know all drives can be hacked now, there isn't a chip installed, the firmware on the dvd rom drive is hacked, someone on BST was fitting a switch so you could turn the hack on and off, not sure if they are still doing it and if you have the latest firmware hack for your drive you can play on Live with originals and back ups at the moment, who knows what the future holds though,

Whats the deal with Xbox 360s and chipping now?
Whats the best drive to have? Some will argue BenQ / Samsung - Id say BenQ as Samsungs will probably be in older machines - No 2nd heatsink OR HDMI (This is not a given with BenQ drives, but alot more likely.
Whats the best chip to have? No chip, iXtreme firmware flash is your best bet
Can the chips be turned off like with the xbox1? Again, Id choose against a chip install, could turn out to be a mistake though. My Opinion is, only play originals when connected to Live, but everything with a modded machine is ' Use at your own risk'
Can you play on live with the original games? Yes
Can you play on live with hacked games? Yes, iXtrmee will only boot fully patched games as thats how they started the bannings before, as older revisions (Xtreme) didnt check, but MS did ;)

The fall update is due at the beginning of December - whether iXtreme will be safe - no-one knows but fingers crossed.

Just the kind of post I was looking for!I've been out of console gaming for a while (last had a chipped ps2 a few years ago) and i'm looking to buy a new xbox 360 arcade from amazon. My question is that i have read that you can play on line with 'stealth patched' games. Any guides on howo to stealth patch normal backups? My other question is that can the firmware be returned to the orginal one should I even need to?ThanksP.S should I try and falsh it myself or just pay someome. I can build pc's and stuff., Any guides on how to do it so I can see if it is within my capabilities?

you can stealth patch unpatched ones and check them with xdvdmulleter from www.360patches.com (http://www.360patches.com)
it depends what drive you get as to whether you can flash it yourself. the hitachi v79 needs some complex soldering and (ideally) an nforce sata chipset although most should work.
the benqs need no soldering but you'll need a VIA or nforce sata chipset.
returning to unflashed is a similar process to modding it in the first place.
