HDMI only 480p? [Archive] - CompuHelpForum

Hi guys

Got a newer XBOX 360 the other day with an HDMI slot on the back (its a core) but when i attach it to my tv it willonly output at 480p, 720p is greyed out in the menu. With the HD AV cable I can get 720p and 1080i? Any idea why this is, id rather use the HD cable and send the HDMI cable back!!!

my elite runs 720p and 1080i over HDMI. try updating the dash on your 360?

don't see why you're having trouble with this.
so many peeps though seem to think hdmi is the best option for hd hookups.
never has been-component is the best even though the human eye can hardly tell the ddifference anyway.
i worked with £80k digital projectors and they don't have hdmi inputs as it is an inferior input.
why people are jumping over themselves just to get the new model of 360 just for the hdmi is beyond me?
