My partners pc seems to have devolped a wierd problem something i've never come accross before .
When you turn it on it goes in a loop to resuce menu
If you try any of the options in the rescue menu
ie: safe mode ,or last good working config
Can get to a serious ble screen where its says
process1_intialization_failed
It just brings you back to the resuce menu.
Anyone help me ..
Thanks in advance

Its Possible.. Its the easiest problem to troubleshoot first, so best to rule it out asap.
Do you remember when the problem started occuring? Did you notice anything before the problem started?

could well be a virus been getting simular problems with my son's pc over the last couple of month's had to do a fresh install twice and the 2nd time was a virus,
maybe worth trying a format and a windows install.

when the xp screen shows and then it say windows is about to start
the laptop reboots just keeps looping
there is a problem with your boot sector
it has been damaged by a virus or not shutting down the pc system the right way.
only way is try and fix the boot itself and hope it works
Recovery console: The XP recovery console can be a very useful utility when employed with care. There are a variety of situations where having access to it can be really handy. In fact, you need to get access to it before we go any further.
Reboot from the Windows XP CD. Once you arrive at the welcome screen, choose "R" for recovery.
You will be asked which Windows installation you wish to access. Choose the appropriate number. which will be 1 as this is master
Now a prompt for your administrator password will appear. Enter it and continue (if no password, press enter). Now we are ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work. While at the console, you can type help for a list of available commands that are at your disposal. For example, you can repair a messed up boot sector by typing FIXBOOT and then typing enter afterward

Seemed fine but whilst i was putting my stuff back on the loop came back , so tried a reformat again but on a different drive but would not do it came up with a error message mi way through saying
windows was unable to set up due to the drive being corrupt
so guess its a virus
tried the repair thing but to be honest it once i pressed enter for admin code it ask for which drive to repair so i put c;windows, then c;windows keeps coming upso unsure what else i need to put in
