Sounds like the classic Ground Loop situation.

I've been able to correct this issue on several client's setup with the insertion of a Ground Loop Isolator in-line.

An quick online search will provide information on avaliability. This is a small electronice device common in resolving similar issues with Car Stereo installation, but common uses for home stereo and computer integration is also quite elevated.

Typically, I use one at home to eliminate the hum resulting from the connection of multiple audio systems together in a multi-room/multi-zone configuration.

You may even be able to find it at some local electronics shops.
