Evening everybody

having major problems getting my 104 to burn at anything faster than 1x. i got some beautiful datasafe riteks (4x) and when i try to burn at 2x, it cuts the speed down to 1x.

im burning from dvd image using stomp recordnow max.

i think at the moment the FW is 1.20 and on the pioneer website it has a link for the following

DVR-A04, DVR-104 ! IMPORTANT Firmware Upgrade Message (http://www.pioneer.co.uk/eur/support_update.jsp?category=support/update)R4ta141.exe (http://www.pioneer.co.uk/eur/download.jsp?dir=/files/support/dvrup&filename=R4TA141.EXE)Firmware Upgrade Ver. 1.41
Caution! Once the drive has been updated to this version, the drive will NOT be able to be restored to an earlier firmware version.

should i upgrade to that or not?? considering its non-reversible ( or so they say)

many thanks for your input!

Just for the hell of it go into Device Manager and make sure DMA is still enabled on the Pioneer.

Maybe some answers here:

yes.. you should upgrade asap, you can kill your 104 by using 4x discs without the upgrade.

The update process is simple and it is extremely important that consumers make sure it is completed prior to using the new high-speed media.
