Isn't Live down today? Had a message from Xbox saying Live was down, cant remember when it said though
EDIT: Nope it ain't down, just signed on myself, alls fine here, if your xbox was flashed with older firmware and you went on Live 6 months ago you're xbox can still be banned

thanks mate
Just been on with Test Drive Unlimited.
Run a connection test and post back the statues codes when it fails.

is there a way to force 3 red rings and chance my arm and send it back to microsoft
And you will get a BenQ drive ;)
Why not buy one from WoolWorths? Im sure that one will be broke when you buy it (sata cable removed????) It wont read discs ;)

Woolworths need a code from MS to accept Xbox 360 returns. Argos and Asda don't ;)
You can sometimes force RROD by wrapping it in a big towel and playing a recent game for a while. Repeat as many times as necessary to make it die permanently. Make sure the towel doesn't catch fire though.
BenQ can be done but it involves buying a new dvdrom drive to swap in.
