ok, i have a v9 dms3 ps2...and recently i haven't been able to boot backups. i emailed precisionmods.com (got it from them) about it...and they said it's a laser issue and not a mod issue.

the weird thing is...i can boot dvd movies burned on the same media as my backups are...and they play perfectly. another thing is...i can boot psx cdr backups fine...but using the same cd media for my ps2 cd-r backups...i get the same "please insert a playstation2 or playstation compatible disc" with the red cloudy background.

can someone please help me out. i've asked everywhere and still haven't found a solution to this. thanks

What kind of media are you using? Have you tried copying one to a different brand media?

Is this issue just for Version 9s?

For the DMS3 users, try holding X. Sometimes the DMS has problems authenticating and sometimes it just doesn't boot. (Assuming you are using 1.8 Bios)

If its a chip issue & you ordered the chip from them then you can't blame them. But sometimes you have to try to boot more than once. Also, is the chip in ps2 mode?

believe me, i've tried booting many, many times...and still no luck. :bawling: and for the dms3, it defaults to ps2 mode. and just to be sure, i hold down "X" to try and boot...and it's still a no go.

oojaxxoo,

We have a few people answering support mails, so I looked at your message from the beginning.

The fact that you can play DVD movies makes me think it's not a laser adjustment, but a possible wiring issue, maybe a wire came loose. We send the general support response but we didn't say for certain that it was a laser issue. Email our support and reference this thread and if we did the install, it is still probably covered under warranty. 6 months on chip + install and 1 year wiring + chip warranty on premods.

Yes, we are still here and will fix your unit. We are closed temporarily because we are integrating other payment options. Such as Visa/Mastercard directly instead of through Paypal.

How long you had it for? I had a problem with my messiah 2. I read a simple cleaning trick on a forum (cant remember where may have been CDRG). Open the laser unit and along the tracks theres grease and dust mixed together, i cleaned this, and cleaned out the whole thing, and all my dvd's games and movies work fine, still get probs on ps2rips but i gotto eject and load when it freezes, this usually works
