m8 doesn't know his admin password

m8s pc (right old hunkajunk) fgails to boot
gets to the windows logo then resets.

i've whacked in the xp disk to try and do a fixboot but it asks for the admion password which he doesn't know.

is he fooked?
does it mean a format and re-install?

not really, especialy when you have proggys like ERD commander going around that boot into windows and reset passwords.

Check this page (http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/). Make sure your the rightful owner/admin of the system :D. Also, read the FAQ (link at the bottom of the page). Hope it'll work for your m8 with no problems.

looks a bit long winded but can have a play then hpefully it may save future probs when others get this trouble.

personally i would have just formatted as i back everything up onto external anyway!
