Alternative to Itunes ?

Hi

Is there an alternative to iTunes so you can just use it as a imple mp3/4 player ?
On my old pc is kept crashing or i had to keep every file i wanted on the ipod also on my pc as when it would 'sync' it would delete anything which was not on my pc.
Also at times it would not even recognise my ipod.........

Was i doing something wrong or is there something better before i reinstall itunes on newe pc.

You can put the Rockbox open source firmware on the player then use it as a normal external USB drive and just stick the mp3s on there. I recommend the Senab build, I have it on my 60GB video.
