Well ive upgraded my 2nd PC to vista and the sound card i was using no longer works :( Creative live 5.1
Ive always had a problem with the onboard sound ABIT KN9 Ultra thats the reason i had the old sound card in it (drivers install but the realtek HD thing just doesnt seem to output anything) so i figured id just buy the cheapest card thats vista compatible but thats easier said than done cos the only ones that i can find that definately work are £40ish...

Can anyone point me in the direstion of a cheap vista sound card for my 2.1 logitechs lol ?????

Cheers in advance H

There were initial driver issues with the Vista Betas and RTMs, but this has all been rectified now, at least with the Vista Final release.

I have had absolutely no issues with a variety of Creative Labs Soundblaster soundcards on numerous Vista installations.

Simply download the latest Vista drivers for the appropriate soundcard from the Soundblaster web site. Vista has no embedded drivers.

Yeah I know when I installed Vista 64 using a new DFI mobo this week there was no sound even after I had installed the drivers from the mobo disc. However, as BDj said a quick visit to the DFI site and a d/l & install of the latest sound drivers sorted that out in a jiffy.

It's well worth doing that before what could be shelling out wasted money on a sound card

Sorry guys i forgot to add i tried finding the drivers for the old soundblaster but its a live 5.1 and very helpfully when i try to locate them for download on the soundblaster/creative site i get told the card is 'end of service life' so i spose that options gone.

Not quite.
I have successfully installed Soundblaster Live! 5.1 Windows XP drivers on Windows Vista on several occasions. Just last week I was successful in accomplishing this with the SB0220 soundcard.

If you still have your driver CD then you should be fine. If not you can try one of the many driver sites such as DriverGuide.com.
