Quite simply, my player wont play VCDs, i have a samsung 709 player which i bought when they first came out. Its old but it is an excellent player and has done me proud. However, it claims to play DVD, VCD and CD. but no matter what VCD i try it just wont play. Should i give up hope, i made a VCD and out of 3 DVD players in the house only one played it, so im pretty sure nero is doing its job. Any suggestions (aside from a new player!!!)

I have a Samsung 709 mate and it will play pressed VideoCDs perfectly as I bought the Official Star Wars Trilogy but the only CDr I found it would ever pickup were Vivastar which Argos sold but they havent been available for a long time now and I have upgraded my 709 to a DK Divx Player which has played everything I have thrown at it.

Princo used to have a good rep for working on picky players. I have plenty of Princo CDR's but no picky players and definatly no Samsung 709 to test.

as you can see in the following post this dvd is indeed very picky about what recordable media it will play.

A friend of mine has one and I have yet to get it to play any vcd regardless of what brand disk I use
If you really need to play vcd it may be time for an upgrade :(

God... I have a samsung... can't remember the model.. bought it last xmas 2002 in argos.. for £99 and they still sell the bloody thing for around the same price.... It plays everything... cheap to expensive media... not one disc has been rejected and have over 200 played through it...best thing I ever bought and excellent on vcd and svcd... it just comes up on menu as cvd or something like that as its jap version or something like that...
there is a forum which gives u details of what exactly your player will read and with peoples reviews.. but can't remember the site.. will dig it out and you can have a look....
