DVD RECORDER HELP how do I set up chanels

Have bought a SONY RDR-HX710 dvd recorder and am pulling my hair out trying to work up how to set the channels up thrugh my sky box. eg i would like to watch say bbc3 and record sky sports but cant make head nor tail of booklet!

if you're trying to watch BBC3 through the Sky box and record Sky Sports also through the Sky box then this cannot be done, a Sky box only has 1 decoder in it (even Sky+ and SkyHD) so you will only be able to have 1 channel on at a time.
If you had Sky+ or SkyHD then they come with 2 tuners but still only have 1 decoder which means you would still only be able to see 1 thing at a time but you could record the stream from the satellite to the internal HDD and then watch that back through the decoder at another time.
