RAM help

hi there, i know computers fairly well but RAM is one thing i never got to grips with.
Basically i currently have 1.5gb of a 3200 speed 400 mhz RAM. but im just wondering if i took that out would i be able to put in for instance PC6400 with 800mhz in there or does it depend on the motherboard etc?

Yep, it depends on the mobo. You can't use PC6400 (DDR2) RAM with a mobo designed for DDR RAM (PC3200).
